Monday Morning

I mostly count the minutes

On Sunday afternoon

I can't face monday morning

Without a shot or two

When the evening comes

Not a thing to do

I still feel underrated

When I look at you

I keep the sadness hidden

Somewhere in the dark

And if you ever see it

It's a work of art

This isn't for the squeemish

Or the faint at heart

I feel my whole world ending

Whenever we're apart

So wave paper moons

And cheap cartoons

And red balloons goodbye

Monday's here so hold me near

Until it passes by

Friday brings a bender

That would blow your mind

The kind that ends in tears and

Brings your ghosts to life

I found a four-leaf clover

In a crack in the road

I looked for someone stronger

To pick up the load

So wave paper moons

And cheap cartoons

And red balloons goodbye

Monday's here so hold me near

Until it passes by

I mostly count the minutes

On Sunday afternoon

I can't face Monday morning

Without a shot or two

So wave paper moons

And cheap cartoons

And red balloons goodbye

Monday's here so hold me near

Until it passes by
